MAMA 2024 grand celebration

MAMA 2024 wrapped up in style, delivering a spectacular celebration that left K-pop fans in awe. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), beginning on November 21 at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles before continuing on November 22 and 23 at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. The event was packed with unforgettable moments, including appearances by Bruno Mars and Rosé, along with the legendary return of G-Dragon and BIGBANG. From rookies to seasoned artists, this year’s MAMA was a dazzling showcase of talent and artistry.

G-Dragon and BIGBANG stole the spotlight with a performance that had idols and fans vibing, dancing, and cheering. Their stage quickly became the most-viewed performance of this year’s MAMA. Let’s revisit some of the most iconic performances in MAMA history that continue to resonate with fans worldwide.

The Most Legendary MAMA Performances Over the Years

Uhm Jung Hwa (2006)

Before MAMA became a global phenomenon, it was known as the Mnet KM Music Video Festival. In 2006, Uhm Jung Hwa delivered a performance so bold and extravagant that fans compared it to international awards shows, setting a high standard for years to come.

T.O.P & Lee Hyori (2008)

MAMA wasn’t considered one of the top music shows in 2008, but it made waves that year thanks to the buzzworthy kiss between T.O.P and Lee Hyori. While the moment wasn’t a performance per se, it undeniably brought MAMA into the spotlight and helped cement its place in K-pop culture.

PSY (2012)

At MAMA 2012, PSY lit up the stage with his global hit “GANGNAM STYLE,” getting idols and fans alike on their feet. The performance earned him the coveted ‘Song of the Year’ award, cementing his place as a global K-pop ambassador.

EXO (2013)

EXO, then rookies, dazzled the MAMA 2013 audience with powerful performances of “Growl” and “Wolf.” Their impeccable choreography and commanding stage presence showcased their rise as K-pop powerhouses.

GD & Taeyang (2014)

At MAMA 2014, G-Dragon and Taeyang delivered an electrifying stage with performances of “Eyes, Nose, Lips,” “Good Boy,” and “Fantastic Baby.” G-Dragon’s memorable diss and the duo’s chemistry brought the house down.

BIGBANG (2015)

BIGBANG turned MAMA 2015 into their own mini-concert with hits like “LOSER,” “BAE BAE,” and “BANG BANG BANG,” proving their status as K-pop legends.

2NE1 (2015)

2NE1 reunited for a surprise performance of “Fire” and “I Am the Best,” making their stage one of the most emotional and memorable moments of MAMA history.

BTS (2016)

BTS made history in 2016 by winning their first Daesang for ‘Artist of the Year.’ Their stunning performances of “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” and “Fire” showcased their unparalleled artistry and charisma.

Sunmi & Taemin (2017)

When Sunmi and Taemin collaborated in 2017, it was pure magic. Their performance, featuring choreography from their hits “Gashina” and “MOVE,” remains unforgettable.

MAMAMOO (2018)

MAMAMOO delivered an awe-inspiring performance at MAMA 2018, blending individual talents with group synergy. Their bold red outfits and captivating stage presence were highlights of the night.

BoA (2020)

The Queen of K-pop, BoA, owned the stage at MAMA 2020 with a medley of hits like “No. 1,” “Only One,” and “Better.” Joined by Taemin for a special dance, her performance was a true masterclass in K-pop excellence.
