BTS’ RM said he and his recently reunited bandmates are “working diligently” on new music in a message shared with fans Friday on Weverse.
In the note (taken from an English translation provided on Weverse), RM meditated on what it was like returning to the studio with BTS, as well as adjusting to life in Los Angeles after completing his mandatory military service in South Korea earlier this summer.
“It’s already been a little over two months since I was discharged from the military,” he wrote. “I’m from faraway Los Angeles. I live, work, and play with the members. It’s a really strange experience. It feels like ‘Bon Voyage Pyeongchang.’ It’s weird already, right… Anyway, I feel like I’m working diligently somewhere.”
RM went on to give fans a brief look at his daily routine, saying he wakes up at 10 a.m. each morning, works out, eats breakfast, then works with BTS from about one or two in the afternoon to eight or nine at night. Afterwards, he said, “Sit alone on the terrace of the rented house, the past, present, and future, I think about these dizzy tenses.”
Further alluding to BTS’ new album, RM said, “Making something ‘together’ with these friends, I’m going to commit myself to this moment. I’m going to thank you. It’s our next album. I’m looking for what I’ll become. Something I’ve forgotten for too long, the moments that are far away together. I hope that it will be a kind of beauty.”
And in a final word to fans, he said, “I miss you. It’s a long time… I guarantee you, I’ll be there soon. I’ll do my best until then. I love you.”
BTS started working on their long-awaited new album in July, and the record is expected to be released in spring 2026, with a world tour to follow. The album will be the group’s first since 2020’s Be, while the trek will be their first since the conclusion of their Permission to Dance On Stage Tour run ended in 2022.
BTS’ extended hiatus began after that tour ended, with all seven members embarking on solo projects and completing their mandatory military service. RM, for his part, released two studio albums during this time, dropping his debut, Indigo, in 2022, then following it up with Right Place, Wrong Person in 2024.
