BTS made their first full-group appearance on the popular U.S. talk show ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ in five years on March 25 (local time), celebrating their long-awaited comeback.
The members entered from the audience side, greeting fans closely before taking the stage.
They embraced host Jimmy Fallon, expressing joy at the reunion. j-hope reflected on their recent Gwanghwamun performance, saying, “We showed everything we could prepare. We want to show even more diverse stages in the future.” The group is set to begin their world tour next month, with Jungkook noting his excitement for the New Jersey concert and adding, “I want to invite Jimmy to come.”
BTS had previously performed their title track “SWIM” at the Guggenheim Museum in the U.S.
The show’s recording, however, drew criticism due to a racially insensitive comment by pre-show MC Seth Herzog. TMZ reported that Herzog jokingly asked, “Is there anyone here from North Korea?” Following the backlash, Herzog apologized to BTS.
BTS released their fifth studio album ‘ARIRANG’ on March 20, marking their first comeback in three years and nine months, and performed a free comeback show at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul the next day.
When Jimmy expressed that he had “missed them,” RM replied, “It’s been five years. Time seemed to stop during military service, but now it’s flown by.” V described the reunion of all seven members as “finally,” while Jin likened it to “reuniting with family.”
RM also shared the meaning behind their album ‘ARIRANG,’ saying, “It’s a traditional song that every Korean knows, containing emotions from joy to sorrow. We hope this song becomes as universal as ‘ARIRANG’ itself.”
