RM, who is well-known as an art lover and a sophisticated collector, will present a major art exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), one of the largest modern art museums in North America. The exhibition is curated by RM with co-curators SFMOMA’s América Castillo and Hyoeun Kim.
The exhibition will run for approximately four months from October 3rd to February 7th of next year.
Titled “RM x SFMOMA,” the exhibition will unveil around 200 pieces of modern and contemporary art, encompassing both RM’s private collection and SFMOMA’s permanent collection.
Among the key Korean artists represented in the collection of RM are Yun Hyong Keun—whose work famously graced the cover of RM’s album ‘Indigo’—followed by a massive lineup of masterpieces by greats such as Park Re Hyun, Kwon Ok Yon, Kim Yun Shin, To Sang Bong, and Chang Uc Chin.
Through SFMOMA on the 19th, RM shared his curatorial philosophy: “We live in an age defined by boundaries. This exhibition at SFMOMA reflects those boundaries: between East and West, Korea and America, the modern and the contemporary, the personal and the universal. I don’t want to prescribe how these works should be seen; whether out of curiosity or study, all perspectives are welcome. My only hope is that this exhibition can be a small but sturdy bridge for many.”
Meanwhile, RM will return to the music scene on March 20th with BTS and their full-length album, ‘Arirang.’
