Broadcaster Hong Jin Kyung shares hilarious story of almost being disowned by her daughter over BTS’ Jin.
On January 21st KST, Hong Jin Kyung appeared in an episode of BTS’ official YouTube show ’Run Jin’, titled “The Magpie ‘Jin’ that Repaid a Favor”. The story revolved around Jin personally delivering homemade gifts to express gratitude to those who supported him, including Hong Jin Kyung.
During the episode, Hong Jin Kyung revealed that her daughter is an avid ARMY, and to avoid any extreme reactions, she decided to keep Jin’s visit a secret. “If my daughter knew Jin was coming, she might faint,” she joked. She even quipped, “She might disown me if she finds out Jin came without her knowing.” Jin, taken aback, replied, “Usually people don’t disown their parents over something like this. Please trust your daughter!”
Hong Jin Kyung later shared on her own YouTube channel how her daughter reacted after finding out about Jin’s visit. “I didn’t tell her Jin was coming because I was worried she’d overreact,” she explained. When her daughter discovered what had happened, she was furious and refused to eat or talk to her mother. “She screamed when she found out,” Hong Jin Kyung said, adding that Jin had left a signed message for her daughter, writing, “Rael, your oppa was here. Please forgive your mom.”
Despite Jin’s efforts, her daughter was still upset. During a phone call, she declared, “I’ll never forget or forgive this betrayal!” Hong Jin Kyung apologized, but her daughter responded, “I don’t accept your apology.” However, when asked to leave an audio message for Jin, her daughter’s tone softened. “To the world’s most amazing Jin oppa, thank you for everything. I will always be your ARMY and love you forever.”
