Netizens Flame iKON’s Bobby For The Reason Behind His Diss Rap Against RM

iKON’s Bobby recently revealed the reason behind his diss battle with RM back in 2014. He had appeared on the rap show Show Me The Money. His track, “Come Here,” was seen as targeting RM.

I live a fast life (bangtang), there’s no need for pretty boys. They call me a monster, I never called myself that. You guys like a full-length mirror better than a basement dungeon. If my skills were looks, I would look like Wonbin in front of a bulletproof mirror.

— Bobby’s rap

The lyrics were highly insulting on multiple counts. He referenced RM’s name origin, Rap Monster, claiming that while RM gave himself that title, Bobby’s title was gifted by the public. He also subtly dissed BTS’s skills, referring to himself as Wonbin compared to a “bulletproof mirror.” Wonbin is one of South Korea’s most famously handsome actors. BTS also stands for “Bulletproof Boys” in Korean.

In a recent episode of Money Chord, he revealed the reason he chose RM. Frankly, he did not dare to touch EXO. EXO was the hottest K-Pop group in 2014, while BTS was just beginning to gain recognition. He had already sunken into the general concept of proving that he was not “just another idol rapper” and had included various idol groups in his raps already on the show. He famously dissed VIXX, Boyfriend, and BTS, while claiming that himself, Mino, Zico, and B.I were exceptions to the rule.

Netizens were incensed on RM’s behalf. They flamed Bobby for his “cowardly decision.”

  • Such a beta.
  • LOL.
  • Huh? Such a thing happened? He’s also an idol himself though?
  • I really cheered him on even though I was not a fan as he worked really hard during his trainee days. But I see that he’s so endlessly careless with his words… Ugh, I can see why fans are upset.
  • Wow, I forgot about this, but I’m recalling it now. What a pathetic b*stard.
  • It’s great to see how BTS succeeded.
  • He should’ve just kept his mouth shut.

Others dissed him for only choosing to attack idols from smaller companies. BTS was from a small company back then, and so were VIXX and Boyfriend.

  • He dissed BTS not just once, but a few times. And he only picked idols from small companies. Not just BTS, but VIXX and Boyfriend too. He’s f*cking uncool LOL. And that’s why RM also tried to bear it, but he finally did a diss rap during MAMA, and then Bobby watched that performance and got a highfive with RM, saying he enjoyed the performance. I watched a previous interview, and I’m so dumfounded. He’s literally the very essence of a hiphop loser beta male.
  • Why is he even bringing this up?
  • Freaking loser b*stard.
  • This is why we skip on Korean hiphop.
  • Looks like the official reason is out LOL. Seems like it was definitely an attack then.
