BTS‘s Suga has returned with the final episode of his popular talk show program, Suchwita, and to close out the unforgettable first season, he was joined by his close friend and popular K-Pop producer, singer-songwriter, EL CAPITXN (also known as Jang Yi Jeong).

EL CAPITXN and Suga have worked on many songs together, including “Daechwita,” PSY and Suga’s “That That,” IU and Suga’s “Eight,” BTS’s “Life Goes On,” and more.

During their episode together, Suga revealed the unexpected story behind the inspiration for BTS’s rap-line’s iconic diss track, “Ddaeng.”

EL CAPITXN revealed that he went to BIGHIT MUSIC for the first time to mix “Ddaeng,” which led Suga to share more about the song. The name of the song came to Suga during the group’s trip to the U.S. to attend their first Billboard Music Awards.

To pass the time, the members played the Hwatu, or Go-Stop, card game. Suga admitted the members had no idea how to play the game.

The word “ddaeng” can serve as an onomatopoeia for the “ding” of a bell, but it can also be used in games to say that an answer is wrong.

Since they didn’t know what the cards meant, the members kept throwing them down and saying, “ddaeng,” which led them to consider using the term in a song. Suga recorded the idea into his phone in the hotel room, and saved it to work on later.

ARMYs found the origin story for the epic diss track hilarious, finding even more reasons to love “Ddaeng.”

Armys: Ddaeng must have been made with so much thought and planning.

Yoongi: We just sucked at the game.
