Jacob Scesney, a renowned saxophonist who has worked with artists such as Maroon 5, Jonas Brothers, Shawn Mendes, and John Legend, recently shared his thoughts on V’s saxophone playing in response to a fan posted video.
Recalling the moment, Scesney said V played “really beautifully” and politely asked if he could try the instrument after the live session. He noted that his saxophone is particularly difficult to play, requiring strong breath control and jaw pressure, yet V handled it impressively.
He added that the moment was completely unplanned, with V simply picking up the saxophone and beginning to play, while the band naturally joined in. Scesney described it as a “really cool moment” that brought joy to fans.
The performance took place during V’s appearance on the “Tiny Desk Korea” special in September 2023, where he performed songs from his solo album “Layover.” Scesney had participated in the session as part of the band.
Although brief and spontaneous, the moment has resurfaced as a testament to V’s musical sensibility and versatility. It is also known that V studied saxophone for several years starting in middle school, further highlighting his musical background.
