Stray Kids shines as performers at ‘American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special’.

Stray Kids made a global impact as they performed at the ‘American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special’ on October 6th in Los Angeles, USA. The American Music Awards (AMAs), one of the top four major music award shows in the US alongside the Grammys, Billboard Music Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards, celebrated its 50th anniversary by reflecting on its rich history.

Stray Kids became the second K-pop group in history to perform at the AMAs, following BTS. Their performance paid tribute to 50 years of boy bands, featuring legendary acts like New Edition, New Kids On The Block, Boyz II Men, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, One Direction, and BTS. Introduced by NSYNC’s Lance Bass and Backstreet Boys’ A.J. McLean, Stray Kids took the stage to honor the legacy of these iconic groups.

They performed ‘Chk Chk Boom,’ the title track from their mini-album ‘ATE,’ which topped the Billboard 200 chart for five consecutive releases. The song, which also entered the Hot 100 for the third time, was remixed exclusively for the AMAs 50th Anniversary Special with a segment of NSYNC’s hit song ‘Bye Bye Bye.’ Following the performance, NSYNC’s official social media channels posted a crossover video of both groups performing ‘Bye Bye Bye,’ highlighting Stray Kids’ “marionette moment” on stage, with the caption, “It’s an honor to see Stray Kids recreate this moment at the AMAs.”

Stray Kids, who won Top K-Pop Album at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards and Best K-Pop at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, stood alongside legendary artists like Mariah Carey, Green Day, Brad Paisley, Chaka Khan, Sheila E, Gladys Knight, Kane Brown, RAYE, Jennifer Hudson, Nelly, and Nile Rodgers with CHIC, further cementing their status as global top artists.

Most recently, Stray Kids’ mini-album ‘ATE,’ released on July 19th, became the best-selling K-pop album in the U.S. in 2024 (as of September 30th). The group kicked off their largest world tour yet, ‘Stray Kids World Tour “dominATE,”’ with shows at the Seoul KSPO Dome in late August and September, and they made history as the first 4th generation K-pop group to hold a concert at Singapore’s National Stadium.

Their world tour will continue with stops in Melbourne, Australia, on October 19th, followed by performances in Sydney, Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, Macau, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and more, concluding in 2025.
