The investigation into two Japanese women who unexpectedly kissed BTS member Jin during a fan event has been officially suspended by police.

On March 26, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced that it had decided to halt the investigation into the women involved. Police may suspend an investigation if the suspect’s whereabouts are unknown, if they have been abroad for more than two months, or if they are unable to be questioned for an extended period due to serious illness or other reasons.

Sources report that one of the women, referred to as Woman A, is currently unable to attend an interrogation but may be available in a few months. The other, Woman B, has not yet been located.

The incident occurred on June 13 of last year during the “Jin Greetings” event held at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul. Jin hosted the event to celebrate his military discharge, offering free hugs to over 1,000 fans. During the event, one attendee kissed him on the cheek, sparking public controversy over potential sexual harassment.

On June 19, police received a report from an online user requesting an investigation into the incident under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act. Following this, on February 27, police officially charged the women under the law for inappropriate conduct in a crowded public setting and launched an investigation.
