Kim Taehyung, aka V of BTS, is less than 2 months away from discharge, but beyond the excitement of his return to the stage, his time in the military is earning him admiration in an entirely new light.
On April 19, Taehyung’s friend and fellow squadmate Seungmin revealed details about his experience serving alongside the global star in a heartfelt letter.
“To Taehyung-hyung,
Taehyung-hyung, there were so many things I was grateful for during military life, but I couldn’t express them all in words before I left. So I’m writing this to sincerely thank you.
Even though your shoulders, thighs, and overall body weren’t in the best condition, you still ranked first in shooting with perfect scores as a full-arm marksman, first in winter urban training and shooting drills, and even received the Exemplary Military Police Award despite your injuries. Watching you go through all that was truly inspiring.
And during our final physical fitness test together, when we ran the 3km side by side, trying our best to get the special class (level)—cheering each other on and pushing through—we ended up finishing way ahead of the special class standard. That was such a romantic and unforgettable moment for me.
Also, the times we went to work out with Sunghyun, whether it was raining or snowing, and being able to train in a better environment thanks to the equipment you donated—all of that became precious memories. I’m also really thankful for all the delicious food you treated me to at the PX during outings and leaves. Especially the eel sushi you bought me—I’ll never forget it. It was so good…
Above all, the consistency and passion you showed helped me solidify my dream of becoming a rehabilitation therapist. Because of you, I never gave up on working out and studying throughout my service. Even after being discharged, I now feel even more motivated to chase my dream quickly.
Thanks to you, military life was more enjoyable. I’ll live like you—steadily and without giving up. Stay healthy always, hyung!”
Taehyung’s dedication, grit, and leadership have certainly left a lasting impact on his squadmate.
The letter revealed how Taehyung has been excelling in the military despite the physical challenges he faced due to injuries sustained during training.
