An episode of the JTBC show ‘Let’s 1 Ggi’ featuring actors Kim Seung Woo and Kim Nam Joo was recently scrapped, even though the entire segment was filmed.
A source from the entertainment industry told MyDaily on September 3rd that the August 5th episode, which featured guests Lee Jin Wook and Jung Chae Yeon, “had to be considered a failure due to internal circumstances.” The source added, “There were internal issues. Everyone was confused, but we had no choice but to conclude that it was a failure.”
Here’s what happened: Hosts Tak Jae Hoon and Kim Hee Sun, along with guests Lee Jin Wook, Jung Chae Yeon, and chef Lee Yeon Bok, rang the doorbell of a home in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The owner who answered was actor Kim Seung-woo, who warmly welcomed the cast and crew inside.
Sources said the atmosphere during filming was festive, largely because of Kim Seung Woo‘s comfortable and cooperative attitude. Chef Lee Yeon Bok then prepared a large meal using ingredients from Kim’s refrigerator. The group chatted and ate together, and the three-hour-long shoot went smoothly. Unfortunately, the segment was never aired.
Another industry insider explained, “Toward the end of the recording, Kim Seung Woo asked the production team not to broadcast the footage. Although there were about three hours of recorded content, he strongly appealed for it not to be released.”
After the crew left, they reportedly tried to persuade Kim Seung Woo, but he stood firm on his decision, saying it was “absolutely impossible to air.” With no time to film at another location, the episode was considered a failure. In the end, the cast and guests had to eat convenience store meals for a second time in a row. A disappointed Lee Jin Wook commented, “I’ve learned humility. This program contains a lot.”
“There was probably an unspeakable reason for Kim Seung Woo,” another source said. “It’s a shame since he had such good intentions to film with the cast and crew. Things like this sometimes happen during filming, so please be understanding.”
This isn’t the first time the couple has had an encounter with ‘Let’s 1 Ggi.’ Back in September 2017, when BTS members Jin and Jungkook appeared as guests, they also rang the doorbell of Kim Seung Woo and Kim Nam Joo‘s home in the same affluent neighborhood. At that time, Kim Nam Joo said, “I would love to serve you a meal, but we’ve already had dinner. It’s just me and the kids here,” and the show’s hosts and guests ended up eating at a convenience store.
