Big Hit Music, the agency for BTS, appoints Shin Seon Jung as its new CEO, replacing Shin Young Jae.
On November 26th, Big Hit Music announced, “We have appointed GM Shin Seon Jung as the new CEO.”
Shin Seon Jung joined Big Hit Entertainment, the predecessor of HYBE, in 2010 and played a significant role in the formation and early growth of the global phenomenon BTS.
Notably, as the head of HYBE’s T&D (Training & Development) business division and GM, she spearheaded advancements in the rookie development system, including the selection of trainees and the creation and operation of education programs tailored to the needs of each HYBE label. Artists launched through the T&D program include BTS, TXT, ENHYPEN, LE SSERAFIM, and &TEAM.
In recognition of her achievements, CEO Shin was featured in the 2022 Billboard 40 Under 40, which highlights influential leaders under the age of 40 shaping the global music industry. Additionally, she was named in the 2023 Billboard Women in Music awards under the ‘Multi Sector’ category, recognizing women making a significant impact on the music industry as artists, creators, producers, or executives.
With Shin’s appointment, Big Hit Music aims to bolster its sustainable growth and enhance its competitiveness in the global music market. Drawing on her extensive experience and
expertise, she is expected to stabilize and optimize the label’s operations while driving the expansion of new business initiatives.
