BTS announced on July 29 that they will not submit their music for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards, set to take place in February 2027.
The members shared the decision through their personal social media accounts. “We hope music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language,” the group said, while thanking ARMY and listeners for their continued support.
The announcement comes after the Recording Academy introduced a new ‘Best Asian Pop Music Performance’ category for the upcoming ceremony, which recognizes pop music produced in or widely recognized from the Asian market. BTS did not directly mention the new category in their statement.
BTS have previously received five Grammy nominations, including three consecutive nods for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and released their full album ‘ARIRANG’ earlier this year.
