BTS is set to make its long-awaited return to the American Music Awards for the first time in five years, raising anticipation over whether the group can claim another grand prize victory.
BTS will attend the 2026 AMAs on May 25 local time at 5 PM at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The appearance marks the group’s first in-person participation at the ceremony since 2021, when they made history as the first Korean act to win the top honor, Artist of the Year.
The AMAs are considered one of the three major music awards shows in the United States alongside the Grammy Awards and the Billboard Music Awards.
This year, BTS received nominations in three categories, including the grand prize category Artist of the Year, Best Male K-Pop Artist, and Song of the Summer.
In the Artist of the Year category, the group will compete against global superstars including Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, and Bad Bunny.
BTS recently returned as a full group last month with its fifth full-length album ‘ARIRANG’ following the completion of all members’ military service.
The comeback has once again demonstrated the group’s powerful global influence. The title track “SWIM” was nominated for Song of the Summer less than a month after its release, highlighting its explosive popularity worldwide.
Over the years, BTS has collected a total of 12 AMA trophies through both group and solo activities.
Beginning with Favorite Social Artist in 2018, the group won the category for three consecutive years while also earning recognition in major fields including Tour of the Year and Favorite Duo or Group.
Notably, BTS still holds the record for the most wins in the Favorite Duo or Group category after taking home the award for four consecutive years.
As BTS returns to the AMA stage after five years, fans around the world are eagerly watching to see whether the group can once again secure the night’s top honor and reaffirm its status as one of the biggest global artists in music today.
