Working with top Kpop artists like BTS is the dream job of many people. These are also jobs that all of us ARMY aspire to. However, working with BTS as a stylist is a process. And below is the sharing of stylist Lee Ha Jeong – who has been with BTS in the fashion style.
In an interview with W ḳöŕệä, Lee Ha Jeong received questions about their career, inspiration and especially the current work αssociated with the world’s top star – BTS. Lee Ha Jeong shared that she has been styling BTS since 2013. But her career as a stylist began many years before that. Previously, she has been 2NE1’s stylist since 2009.
But one surprise that she has revealed is that her original dream was not to be a stylist. Lee Ha Jeong shared with W ḳöŕệä, “I wasn’t a fashion major. But I started naturally because I liked clothes, and I’ve been working with BTS since their debut.” It seems that HYBE’s stylist selection process doesn’t go from forcing the person to graduate from the fashion faculty but most importantly, they look at her achievements and what she has done under the eyes of a stylist.
Stylist also shared how she applied to become a stylist of Kpop artists including BTS. She emailed job applications and showed off her portfolio. After that, she received an email inviting her to an interview and went through in-depth interviews and a trial period, so far she has been working with BTS for 8 years.
She also shared, “Because the group has tremendous amount of activity, every time they go, they need a lot of clothes. If there is a brand that suits the stage concept, we will discuss it directly with the visual team and design it in different ways”. The stylist also talked about the MV visual concept that she was impressive the most. That is On MV with the harmony in the music, the set and the clothes.
BTS’s stylist also revealed that RM and V are the two members who pay the most attention to clothes in BTS. And when asked about the Hanbok costumes that BTS used a lot in the performances of Idol, Daechwita, Daeng… Lee Ha Jeong also said that it is a special effort to make a mark of ḳöŕệän culture in modern fashion. The stylists do not work independently, but always in consultation with members to “mix each hanbok from different brands and style them with bold jewelry and sneakers, and it was quite a fresh and enjoyable experience”.
Over the years, BTS’s fashion style has also changed a lot. And now they become idols with fashionable, expensive, free and trend-leading fashion styles!
