Melon and Kakao Bank have teamed up to make a meaningful donation through the ‘MMA2023‘ Favorite Star Award.
Kakao Entertainment’s renowned music platform, Melon, and Kakao Bank jointly announced on January 16 KST that they will be making a generous contribution of 10 million won to the Korea Music Performers Association as part of the MMA2023 (MELON MUSIC AWARDS, Melon Music Awards) ‘Favorite Star Award.’
Preceding the MMA2023 event, the Kakao Bank mobile app organized the ‘Favorite Star Award’ voting campaign to recognize stars who had garnered love and admiration for their various contributions throughout the year. It was decided that 10 million won would be donated in the name of the winning artist and their fandom, motivating fans to participate in the voting process and create a positive impact through their favorite artists. Consequently, the globally acclaimed BTS emerged victorious, securing the ‘Kakao Bank Favorite Star Award’ as chosen by the fans.
In line with this recognition, Melon and Kakao Bank have pledged to donate 10 million won to the Korean Music Performers Association, bearing the name of both the artist and their devoted fandom. The Korean Music Performers Association stands as Korea’s sole copyright management organization for music performers, representing over 44,000 singers and performers across various music genres, including popular music, traditional Korean music, and classical music. The organization plays a pivotal role in improving conditions for musicians and elevating their status. The donation from the ‘Kakao Bank Favorite Star Award’ will be utilized to fund the musician support project, aimed at assisting non-mainstream, indie, and emerging musicians in their music creation and performance endeavors.
