A significant aspect of Korean entertainment is its variety programs. However, in recent years, these shows have started to blend together, often recycling the same concepts and formats. Viewers typically find themselves watching talk shows or programs similar to Running Man, where guests participate in a few games before the episode ends. But where has the creativity gone? What happened to the unique, innovative programming that once set Korean variety shows apart?

With the rise of social media, we’ve seen countless fans showcase their incredible creativity and talent. From hyper-realistic fan art and detailed sculptures to self-made clothing inspired by their favorite K-pop artists, the passion and skill of these fans are truly remarkable. However, these talents often go unrecognized and unutilized. This raises the question: why has there never been a Korean variety program that highlights and celebrates the talents of these fandoms, especially given the global surge in the popularity of Korean culture and entertainment?

Imagine a show where fans could submit their artwork, and these creations would then serve as the inspiration for an entire comeback—from concept design and photoshoot style to music video backdrops, performance outfits, and even merchandise. The creative process would be enriched by the insights of the fans, who often have a deep understanding of what resonates with the public. They know what styles work, what concepts are trending, and which experimental music genres their favorite groups could successfully explore. To make it even more exciting, imagine if the panelists judging these submissions were the stars themselves.

A program similar to Project Runway, where viewers get an in-depth look at the production of a single album, could provide a fresh perspective on the effort, passion, and dedication that go into creating music. It would also shine a light on the staff working tirelessly behind the scenes, often overlooked but crucial to the success of every project.

Such a show would also greatly benefit the fans who contribute their work. Not only would their art receive much-needed exposure, but it would also provide them with a valuable platform to establish themselves in the highly competitive world of the arts. The opportunity to have their creations showcased on a national or even global stage could open doors that might otherwise remain closed, offering them a chance to connect with industry professionals and wider audiences. Everyone knows how challenging it is to build a name in this industry, and a show like this could truly be a game-changer for many aspiring artists, potentially launching their careers and giving them the recognition they deserve.

This type of show is a rarity in Korean variety programs, but it could mark the beginning of something new and refreshing. It would offer a unique perspective, shifting the focus from the stars to the fans who support them so passionately.

We have seen plenty of survival programs, from Produce 101 to dance competitions like Street Fighter Women, so why not create a show that is truly dedicated to the fans? A show that not only entertains but also actively engages with the fan community in a meaningful way, celebrating their creativity and giving them a platform to shine. Such a program could redefine the relationship between fans and the entertainment industry, providing a unique space where fan contributions are not just acknowledged but are central to the show’s success. By giving fans a voice and a direct role in the creative process, this kind of show could foster a deeper connection between artists and their supporters, creating a dynamic that is both innovative and inspiring.
