Singer YENA has expressed heartfelt appreciation to BTS member Jin for inviting her to feature on his latest track, calling the experience a rare and unforgettable opportunity.
At a showcase held on July 29 at Blue Square in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, YENA officially unveiled her fourth mini album ‘Blooming Wings.’ The event highlighted not only her artistic growth but also her recent collaboration with Jin, which she described with emotion.
YENA recently featured on “Loser,” a track from Jin’s second mini album ‘Echo,’ and even appeared alongside him on stage during a concert performance. Reflecting on the collaboration, she shared, “I was deeply touched when Jin told me I was the first artist that came to mind for the feature. I thought to myself, when else would I ever get the chance to stand on stage in front of ARMY?”
‘Blooming Wings’ is an album brimming with narratives of love and personal growth, capturing YENA’s unique emotional spectrum. From the fluttering innocence of first love, pure like angel wings, to the bittersweet memory of a first breakup on a rainy alley, the album reinterprets these moments through YENA’s signature storytelling.
The title track, “Being a Good Girl Hurts” is a vibrant, emotionally charged song layered with dramatic strings and instrumentation, reminiscent of a summer night’s firework display. YENA contributed to the lyrics, encapsulating the longing to be seen as a ‘good person’ in love and the pain of heartbreak into a single poignant phrase: “The word ‘nice’ hurts the most,” leaving a lasting impression on listeners.
The album also includes a range of songs that portray diverse shades of love: “Drama Queen,” “Hello, Goodbye,” “Anyone But You” (featuring Miryo of Brown Eyed Girls), and 364, a heartfelt fan song. Each track reflects YENA’s delicate yet powerful emotional lens.
Following the release of her third single ‘NEMONEMO’ last September, which marked the beginning of her unique “YENA-core” sound, the artist further solidifies her identity with ‘Blooming Wings.’ The new album showcases a deeper, more mature musical world, affirming her evolution as a solo artist.
‘Blooming Wings’ will be available on all major streaming platforms starting at 6 PM KST on July 29.
