Younha confesses she wanted to call RM ‘Oppa’

Younha recently participated in the recording of MBC’s “Radio Star” , where she shared a touching story about RM.

The April 24th episode features Bae Chul Soo, Kim Kyung Sik, Younha, and Lee Seung Guk in a special themed “Voice as a Fingerprint.”

Returning to “Radio Star” for the first time in about 10 years, Younha, who celebrates her 20th debut anniversary, shared her heartfelt experiences. She expressed her gratitude for becoming the sixth female solo artist to perform at the KSPO DOME and candidly spoke about her feelings during the retroactive popularity of her song “Event Horizon,” wishing it had received steady love from the start.

Meanwhile, she revealed the reactions of Epik High, the original artists of the song “Umbrella” which is gaining retroactive popularity after being featured in a scene where Byeon Woo Seok holds an umbrella in front of Kim Hye Yoon in the hit drama “Lovely Runner“

Younha also reminisced about being caught up in a plagiarism controversy during her unexpected rise in popularity, saying, “One of my strict rules is not to copy others’ work, so I carefully check my work. When I heard about the plagiarism controversy, I felt my blood stop circulating.” It turned out the controversy was due to an album cover resembling a bowl of pho. Younha admitted, “It does look similar,” and gracefully acknowledged the pho plagiarism.

Recently, Younha made headlines by giving up the royalties for her song “Waiting” used in the popular tvN drama “Queen of Tears” because of her connection with actress Kim Ji Won, the drama’s lead. Younha revealed that despite not being close at first, they became good friends after she contacted Kim Ji Won upon hearing about her casting in “Descendants of the Sun“

Younha also shared a humorous story about feeling hurt when paparazzi ignored her. She was photographed hugging soccer player Son Heung Min, but the photos did not spark any rumors, which disappointed her. Additionally, Younha mentioned how RM’s support helped her achieve a number one spot on the Billboard Digital Chart, and she confessed, “I wanted to call him ‘Oppa’.”

Younha also disclosed that she debuted in Japan before Korea. Known as the “second BoA” and “the comet of Oricon,” she clarified, “I didn’t choose not to debut in Korea; I couldn’t.” She shared her success story of being reverse-imported to Korea through the program “Human Theater,” to which Kim Gura responded, “Younha, you went through a lot.”
