The comeback fever of global supergroup BTS has ignited nights in New York and London beyond Seoul, turning cities around the world into a grand festival.
On March 25th at 10:30 PM KST, BTS released the ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG’ compilation video on their official YouTube channel.
This project was designed to celebrate the group’s comeback by transforming major cities around the world into a massive festival space and immersive media experience.
London’s South Bank and New York’s Brooklyn Bridge also joined in celebrating BTS’s return.
London’s iconic London Eye was illuminated in striking red lights, creating a spectacular scene. Nearby building facades displayed media art featuring the members holding traditional lanterns alongside the album logo. In New York, drones performed synchronized formations against the Manhattan skyline, lighting up the night sky with phrases such as “NEW YORK, WHAT IS YOUR LOVE SONG?”, “ARIRANG”, as well as the group name BTS and the number “7,” symbolizing the seven members. Hundreds of drones also formed the Big Dipper constellation.
Beyond global landmarks, the video vividly captured moments shared with citizens in the heart of Seoul, where large-scale media facades created a dazzling spectacle.
Shinsegae Square drew attention with 3D visuals that made it appear as though the members were about to step out of the screen. At Sungnyemun Gate, designated as Korea’s National Treasure No. 1, a media facade projected the silhouettes of BTS walking gracefully across the historic walls, creating a grand and symbolic scene. Thousands of citizens gathered on-site, holding up their phones to capture the historic moment.
The Sungnyemun media facade, held on March 20th to commemorate BTS’s comeback, has been praised as a successful example of blending cultural heritage with modern media art.
The festival atmosphere extended throughout the city. N Seoul Tower displayed the ‘ARIRANG’ album logo, while thousands of drones above Ttukseom Hangang Park intricately formed the faces of the seven members, drawing cheers from the crowd. At Yeouido Hangang Park, the ‘Love Song Lounge’ kept visitors engaged late into the night with busking performances and various interactive events.
In Seoul, additional programs are being held across the city, including ‘ARMY Madang’ at DDP and ‘Love Quarter’ along Cheonggyecheon, offering diverse experiences that highlight the city’s charm.
