Popular boy band BTS was in Mexico this week as part of their Arirang World Tour.

One of the its seven members, Suga, is a huge fan of pro wrestling. He recently revealed his favorite WWE Superstar growing up back in South Korea.

Four of the members were also at ringside for Friday’s CMLL show in Mexico City wearing luchador masks.

BTS Attends CMLL Event

Following a two-day concert in El Paso, Texas on May 2 and 3, the next stop on BTS’ Arirang World Tour was Mexico City. They have three dates at Estadio GNP Seguros on May 7, 9 and 10.

In between the first and second day of their concert, four of the members, Jin, Suga, Jimin and Jungkook attended CMLL Viernes Espectacular at Arena Mexico. They wear at ringside donning different luchador masks to conceal their identities.

They even got into the action a bit during the tag team match between the team of Mistico and Titan against Angel de Oro and Barbaro Cavernario. Cavernario even gave the finger to Jimin, who was booing him during the match.

For those unaware, Mistico is former WWE Superstar Sin Cara. He was with the company from 2011 to 2014.

Suga Reveals Favorite WWE Superstar Growing Up

On the second day of their concert, Suga opened up about her pro wrestling fandom toward the end of the show. He revealed his favorite WWE star growing up was Rey Mysterio and even liked Eddie Guerrero.

“When I was in elementary school, to be honest, I used to run an online fan cafe about professional wrestling,” Suga said, via BTS Army PH. “My favorite wrestler was Rey Mysterio. I also liked Eddie Guerrero.”

Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero are two of the greatest WWE Superstar of all time. They were at their peak in the early 2000s. Mysterio is still wrestling, while Guerrero sadly passed away in November 2005.

Suga also opened up about his CMLL experience.
“I had so much fun yesterday, and this morning when I woke up and turned on the TV, we were on the news for going to watch a lucha libre match,” Suga said. “I’m leaving Mexico with nothing but good memories. Thank you so much. You guys are the best, and I promise we’ll definitely come back. Thank you.”

After Mexico City, BTS will continue their Arirang World Tour in Stanford, California on May 16.

John Cena’s Message To BTS

Speaking at last year’s Fan Expo Dallas, WWE legend John Cena expressed his admiration for BTS. Cena explained he’s not a fan of K-Pop, but he appreciates the boy band for a variety of reasons.

“I gotta speak truthfully and authentically,” Cena said, via News18. “J-Hope is my guy. I don’t necessarily like K-pop. I gravitate towards BTS. They look so beautiful. What I love is people who looked and acted like they had it all, be open with their emotions in telling other people to start practicing self-love.”
Cena added, “And that hit me at a time in my life when I needed to practice some self-love. So we hit it off on a personal level and since then we have connected with each other. We have shot videos.”

With WWE being open to more celebrity involvement, maybe they could collaborate with BTS once they are not busy with their tour that ends on March 2027.
