BTS has broken its own tour revenue record with its “ARIRANG” world tour, raking in about 600 billion won this year.
According to Billboard, the U.S. music publication, on Aug. 27 local time, BTS had performed 38 shows since kicking off the tour in April alongside the release of its fifth studio album, “ARIRANG.” Through Aug. 11, the tour had sold 2.3 million tickets and grossed $433.2 million, or about 598 billion won. That is more than twice the $213.9 million, or about 295.3 billion won, the group earned from its previous record-setting “LOVE YOURSELF” tour.
Billboard said BTS grossed $102.5 million, or about 141.5 billion won, from the “ARIRANG” tour in July alone. The figure put BTS at No. 2 on Billboard’s monthly Top Tours chart for July, behind global star The Weeknd, who grossed $124.4 million, or about 168.9 billion won.
“BTS performed eight shows in July, while The Weeknd performed 16,” Big Hit Music, BTS’ agency, said. “BTS brought in revenue comparable to The Weeknd’s with less than half as many shows.” Billboard said BTS is the third artist in history, after Beyoncé and Bad Bunny, to surpass $100 million in monthly tour revenue in multiple months.
