Upcoming BTS concerts in Busan have become the subject of debate following reports that a large number of local government employees may be assigned to assist with event operations and safety management.

On June 8, a post shared on an online community claimed that hundreds of Busan city officials would be mobilized for the group’s upcoming concerts. The post questioned whether public employees should be involved in staffing a commercial event organized by a private company.

The discussion gained further attention after local media reported comments from an individual identified as a Busan city official. According to the report, some employees expressed concerns about the scale of the deployment and questioned the use of public resources for a privately organized concert.

The issue has since sparked mixed reactions online. Some critics argued that event organizers should independently cover all staffing and safety-related costs, while others noted that large-scale events often require cooperation between organizers and local authorities to manage traffic, crowd control, and public safety.

As of now, it remains unclear whether the staffing arrangement resulted from a direct request by BTS’s agency, HYBE and its label BIGHIT MUSIC, or from a decision made by local authorities as part of their public safety planning. No official clarification regarding the specific details of the reported deployment has been announced.

Meanwhile, BTS will hold the “BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN BUSAN” concerts on June 12 and 13 at Busan Asiad Main Stadium. The performances mark the group’s return to Busan as a full group for the first time in nearly four years and coincide with the anniversary of BTS’s debut, drawing significant interest from fans around the world.

Fan responses have been largely divided. Many fans argued that the controversy should be directed toward event administration and local government planning rather than BTS themselves, noting that artists do not manage staffing or public safety arrangements. Others expressed concern that the issue could overshadow what is expected to be one of the biggest K-pop events of the year.

At the same time, some online commenters said they understood the frustrations raised by public officials and called for greater transparency regarding how staffing responsibilities and costs are shared between event organizers and local authorities. The discussion continues as fans await further clarification from the parties involved.
