Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said he expects BTS’s upcoming Arirang world tour concerts in the Indonesian capital to deliver a significant boost to the city’s economy, as one of the world’s biggest music acts prepares to stage three sold-out shows at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium at the end of 2026.

BTS is the world’s most successful K-pop group and one of the best-selling music acts of all time. The seven-member South Korean band — consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook — has topped charts globally, sold millions of albums, and built a massive international fan base known as ARMY. The group’s tours routinely generate hundreds of millions of dollars in ticket sales and tourism spending, making BTS concerts a major economic event for host cities.

Speaking on Friday, Pramono said large-scale international events such as BTS concerts generate economic activity across multiple sectors, including hotels, transportation, restaurants, and small businesses.

“The contribution to Jakarta’s economy will certainly be significant,” Pramono told reporters in Central Jakarta.

He said the economic benefits would extend beyond event organizers, creating opportunities for businesses directly and indirectly involved in hosting the concerts.

The concerts have already triggered strong demand from fans, prompting promoter IME Indonesia and South Korean entertainment company BigHit Entertainment to add a third Jakarta performance to the tour schedule.

BTS will now perform at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on Dec. 26, 27, and 29, 2026. The group had initially planned only two shows in the city.

“Due to overwhelming demand, a third BTS World Tour Arirang show in Jakarta has been added,” IME Indonesia announced through its official social media channels.

Jakarta is one of 23 cities and regions included in BTS’s Arirang world tour, which has expanded alongside growing ticket demand. A similar additional concert date was also added in Bulacan, the Philippines.

With the latest schedule adjustments, BTS is set to perform a total of 88 concerts worldwide, making Arirang the largest single concert tour ever undertaken by a K-pop artist.

The announcement underscores the continued global appeal of the seven-member group, which recently reunited following the completion of members’ mandatory military service in South Korea.

Before launching the international leg of the tour, BTS performed two concerts at Busan Asiad Main Stadium on June 12 and 13, drawing an estimated 110,000 fans. Following the Jakarta shows, the group will continue its tour across several regions, including Europe, where tickets have already sold out.

Industry observers expect the concerts to attract tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors to Jakarta during the year-end holiday season, potentially boosting occupancy rates at hotels, increasing spending in restaurants and shopping centers, and driving demand for transportation services.

BTS’s global profile has also received another boost after the group was selected to perform during the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, one of the most-watched sporting events worldwide.

The Arirang tour supports BTS’s latest album of the same name, featuring the lead single “Swim,” which has become the centerpiece of the group’s global promotional campaign.
