A member of BTS‘s ARMY exposed HYBE for allegedly sabotaging NewJeans.
On September 26, a post titled “I’m An ARMY But Is This Real?” went viral. The post has since been viewed over 78K times.
In the post, the author who identifies themselves as a BTS fan uploaded a comment that claimed HYBE was actively working on sabotaging NewJeans’ first-week sales for “How Sweet.”
“You guys delivered albums later on Weverse so that you guys could lower the first-week sales number for “How Sweet.” The album sold 810k copies on its first day. That number would only increase to 880k copies by the last day of their album’s first week. However, the next day, the album soared to 1.08 million copies. Lol. So for 6 days, the album sold only 70k copies, but as soon as the the first week was over, 200k albums were sold. Fans complained on Weverse because you guys delivered the albums late so that NewJeans wouldn’t sell over a million copies.”

The post’s author then criticizes HYBE for doing the same to BTS members’ solo endeavors.
“When BTS members began their solo careers, their albums wouldn’t be shipped in Korea, the USA, and Europe until after their first week. At the time, we joked that HYBE was sabotaging BTS members’ first-week sales, but at this point, I think these allegations are true. There was a time in China when an order for tens of thousands of albums was canceled the day before it was supposed to be delivered. If this is true, HYBE are f*cking thugs.”

- “HYBE fans in the comments are hilarious. They know this is true so they are left with accusing people of being SM fans.”

- “Why are SM fans pretending to be ARMY?”
- “This is like the label that tried to end BTS’s careers, lol. I am not even surprised anymore.”
- “SEVENTEEN’s album was also delivered late…”
