BTS’s Jimin has earned his first solo platinum certification in Japan. His solo track “Who” received a Platinum award from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) after surpassing 100 million streams in the country.
The certification was announced on August 27 as part of RIAJ’s July streaming awards. Jimin was the only South Korean and non-Japanese artist listed in the platinum tier for the month.
Released in July 2024 as the title track of his second solo album ‘MUSE,’ “Who” is also the fastest song by a K-pop soloist to reach 100 million streams in Japan. The RIAJ grants streaming certifications at 50 million streams for gold, 100 million for platinum, and 500 million for diamond.
Jimin has steadily built his presence in Japan. His first solo album ‘FACE’ earned a platinum certification for physical sales, while ‘MUSE’ was certified gold after passing 100,000 copies sold.
The award adds to Jimin’s growing solo track record alongside his work with BTS, reflecting his reach in one of the world’s largest music markets.
