Jimin is the latest singer to land ambassadorship with the French luxury fashion house.
The multihyphenate singer, dancer and songwriter, has previously worked with Dior alongside the rest of the BTS gang. According to WWD which was the first to report the news, the band’s relationship with the French luxury house dates back to 2019 when menswear designer Kim Jones designed the stage outfits for the group’s Love Yourself: Speak Yourself world tour. In the past, the BTS group has worked with other major brands including McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Samsung and Louis Vuitton, which also named them brand ambassadors back in April 2021. However, the Louis Vuitton ambassadorship officially ended.
Jimin is one of seven members of the BTS group, which also includes RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V and Jungkook. The group recently announced that the band will be taking a break to explore solo projects as they each complete their mandatory military service in South Korea. Most recently, Jimin has released a collaborative track with another major K-Pop band, BigBang’s star Taeyang titled “Vibe.” As each member explores solo projects, Jimin’s signing to Dior proves just that. Each member is now able to individually exercise their own branding. In a statement, Dior discussed its partnership with Jimin, “The South Korean artist now embodies the spirit and singularity of Dior style, modernity with a timeless signature.”
This is not the first time Dior has leveraged the power of K-Pop stars. Dior has also previously signed Jisoo, a BlackPink member, as a global fashion and beauty ambassador for the house. Jimin joins other brand ambassadors for Dior menswear including Sehun and Cha Eunwoo.
