K-pop documentary on RM’s second solo album premieres at Busan International Film Festival.

On the evening of October 7th KST, RM’s first documentary film, ‘RM: Right People, Wrong Place,’ had its world premiere at the Open Cinema section of the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) at the outdoor theater of the Busan Cinema Center. This marks the first time a K-pop documentary has been officially invited to this section of the festival. BIFF praised the film as “a making-of album film and a very special journal of youth.”

Despite heavy rain, fans and global audiences packed the outdoor theater to support RM. Before the screening, the director of the film, Lee Seok Joon, along with assistant director Im Soo Bin and music director Junkyard (JNKYRD), as well as contributors to RM’s second solo album ‘Right Place, Wrong Person,’ including Balming Tiger’s San Yawn and Jang Se Hun, appeared on stage to greet the audience.

Director Lee Seok Joon described the film as “a deep record of RM’s inner self and a reflection of emotions that everyone has felt at some point in life.” The production team expressed their gratitude, saying, “We’re thankful to be able to share RM’s journey in such a special setting. We want to congratulate RM and the audience on this occasion.”

When RM’s interview was shown for the first time, the atmosphere reached a peak. In the video, RM stated, “This documentary captures the raw, human side of Kim Nam Joon.” He added, “What’s ‘Right’ and ‘Wrong’ constantly changes depending on our perspective. Through this work, I’ve come to believe that I’m one of the ‘Right’ people.”

The screening began with enthusiastic responses from the audience. Throughout the 90-minute runtime, viewers alternately laughed and deeply empathized with RM’s journey through his youth. As the film concluded, the audience filled the outdoor theater with applause until the end credits finished, while RM sent a heartfelt message to fans with the caption, “OUR BIGGEST VOICE, ARMY.”

‘RM: Right People, Wrong Place’ documents the eight-month process of RM creating his second solo album. The film portrays both RM as the leader of BTS and solo artist, as well as the raw, candid emotions of Kim Nam Joon as a person. Its artistic visuals give the documentary a feel akin to an art film.

Following the successful world premiere at BIFF, ‘RM: Right People, Wrong Place’ will be released in theaters worldwide this December, allowing global audiences to experience the film.
