Recently, BTS fans have noticed that several highly viewed fancam videos of V have been disappearing from YouTube.
The issue was discussed on a popular online community, where a fan shared screenshots showing that multiple fancam videos featuring V had been removed due to copyright claims by HYBE. However, the fans who have been uploading the videos expressed discontent as the videos were suddenly removed without warning.
Translation: “Why are they making a fuss about this now?”https://www.allkpop.com/”Hello, MOMBO, A copyright takedown request has been received for your video. In accordance with the relevant copyright law, your video has been removed from YouTube.”
One fan expressed, “In the past, when a video was taken down due to a copyright claim, you’d get a red label like the one on the left. But this time, it just disappeared without a trace… Scary. How am I supposed to stay in this fandom?“
Other fans also pointed out that there have been more fancams for V that were removed from YouTube, while the fancam videos of other members have remained without any copyright claims. They explained, “Why are V’s solo fancams currently ‘unavailable due to a copyright infringement report,’ while other group members’ fancams and group fancams are viewable without issues? We demand HYBE to respect BTS member V and treat him fairly.”
Another fan wrote in a popular online community, “Taehyung’s videos are all being removed, yet despite reporting those ‘wrecker’ videos (illegal reuploads), HYBE isn’t taking any action? Two videos with over 10 million views were taken down, and four in total—big and small accounts alike—were removed in just two days. But none of the ‘wrecker’ videos that fans reported for copyright violations have been removed. Why is HYBE doing this now? Fans are already struggling with his military hiatus, and this is just too much.“
Korean netizens have speculated that HYBE has been actively removing V’s videos, some of which had amassed millions of views. However, others countered this, asserting that it was appropriate for these fancams to be taken down, as they violated copyright regulations.
They commented:
“HYBE is doing HYBE things.”
“It wasn’t only V’s video that was removed. Other idol’s videos were removed too.”
“There are a lot of fancam videos that were removed because of copyright.”
“What is HYBE doing?”
“But why are only V’s videos being removed?”
“Maybe V didn’t renew his contract?”
“These precious videos are being removed!”
“That is so sad. I love these fancam videos of V.”
“I don’t know if HYBE was doing this but it wasn’t only V’s fancam videos being deleted.”
“Is there a way to save his videos? They had millions of views.”
