BTS continues to cement its global dominance, maintaining its impressive run on Spotify while receiving a prestigious civic honor in Argentina ahead of its upcoming South American tour.
The album has now remained among the chart’s top performers for 15 consecutive weeks. It has also topped the global albums chart nine times in 2026, the most No. 1 finishes by any artist this year, demonstrating the group’s sustained worldwide popularity more than three months after the album’s release.
Adding to the milestone, La Plata City Council in Argentina unanimously named BTS “Huésped de Honor” (Guest of Honor), one of the city’s highest official recognitions traditionally presented to individuals who have made significant cultural or social contributions.
The honor recognizes BTS for its positive influence on young people around the world and its contributions to promoting youth rights through music and public engagement.
Local media outlet Infocielo highlighted the city council’s rare unanimous vote, underscoring the group’s extraordinary cultural impact. Reports also noted that La Plata Mayor Julio Alak is personally overseeing large-scale preparations, including public safety, transportation, and accommodations, in anticipation of the massive crowds expected for BTS’ visit.
BTS is scheduled to bring its BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ to Estadio Único de La Plata on October 21, 23, and 24, becoming the first Korean act to headline the iconic stadium and meet thousands of fans across South America.
