J-Hope’s solo track ‘Chicken Noodle Soup’ has surpassed 500,000 units sold in the United States.
On the 20th, Chart Data announced that BTS member J-Hope’s solo track ‘Chicken Noodle Soup’ (feat. Becky G) has surpassed 500,000 units sold in the U.S.
Units are a measurement that combines traditional album sales with streaming and digital download counts.
‘Chicken Noodle Soup’, released solely as a digital single, was also available for free on SoundCloud, making the achievement of 500,000 units sold even more significant.
The track, released in September 2019, saw J-Hope actively participate in its creation, including writing, composing, choreographing, directing the music video, and selecting costumes, accessories, and cover art.
The song made its way onto several major charts, reaching number 81 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 55 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100, and number 82 on the UK Official Singles Chart, making simultaneous entries in the U.S., Canada, and the UK.
The song also sparked a popular dance challenge, earning widespread popularity. It received the ‘Viral Video of the Year’ award at the 2019 Vietnam WebTVAsia Awards and was listed among ‘Top 25 Music Videos of the Year’ and ‘Best Music Videos of 2019’ by PopCrush and Idolator.
Additionally, the ‘Chicken Noodle Soup’ music video ranked ninth in YouTube’s global year-end chart for the most ‘liked’ music videos in 2019 and surpassed 400 million views on May 13.
Meanwhile, J-Hope is currently serving as a training instructor at the 36th Infantry Division’s Baekho Recruit Training Center in Wonju, Gangwon Province, with his discharge scheduled for October 17.
