Los Angeles will kick off its “BTS Week” from Tuesday through Sept. 8 in tandem with BTS’s concerts held in the city, the band’s agency BigHit Music said Tuesday.
Marking the event, the Los Angeles City Hall will be illuminated in red — the theme color of BTS’s latest album “Arirang — as an official gesture of welcome and friendship toward the team and visitors to the city, according to the agency.
BTS will perform at SoFi Stadium on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
A proclamation ceremony for the event took place at City Hall on Monday, attended by representatives from the city council, Los Angeles Tourism and BigHit Music.
“The proclamation of BTS Week reflects our belief in the power of arts and culture to foster greater understanding and bring communities together,” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said. “We are proud to recognize BTS’s remarkable contributions to global culture and celebrate their special connection to Los Angeles with fans around the world.”
Councilmember John Lee also attended the ceremony.
“This proclamation honors BTS’s extraordinary global impact and celebrates the enduring connection between Los Angeles, Korea, and the Korean American community,” said Councilmember John Lee. “BTS has created a powerful cultural bridge through music, and BTS Week reflects Los Angeles’s pride in recognizing that legacy and the communities it continues to inspire.”
BTS is currently on its “Arirang” world tour, which began in Goyang, Gyeonggi, in April.
Los Angeles is the final stop on the North American leg of the tour. The shows also mark BTS’s return to SoFi Stadium for the first time in about four years and nine months, since “BTS Permission to Dance on Stage – LA” in December 2021.
