RM has opened up about his innermost feelings.
On an online forum, netizens discussed headlines and media articles stemming from the BTS member’s recent video on ‘BANGTANTV,’ reportedly filmed six months ago, where he engaged in an open conversation with fellow member Jimin. Reflecting on his second solo album, ‘Right Place, Wrong Person,’ RM shared the immense pressures he faced as the leader of BTS.
At one point, RM candidly admitted that he almost “wanted to die” due to the overwhelming pressure and the weight of others’ expectations, despite feeling like he was “an insignificant 29-year-old Korean man, who happens to live a slightly different life.”
In the heartfelt exchange, RM confided in Jimin:
“Especially I, in this team, always had to speak righteously, about good things, stand for the team in front of everyone. What people expect of me are speeches, interviews, speaking English, and speaking out as a minority. But, as you know, I am just an insignificant 29-year-old Korean man. I guess not a ‘normal’ man but someone who happens to live a slightly different life. Just like you, [Jimin], who is just a 28-year-old guy.”
He continued:
“We’ve been through this for 10 years. This pressure. At a certain point, the idea that we had to be ‘good’ and ‘different’ from everyone else… The reason I loved BTS was because it was a music group, but having to care about everyone else’s viewpoints led me to think that, at this rate, I wanted to die.”
RM revealed that these feelings were part of the motivation behind creating his new solo album.
