K-pop groups have long made a tradition of covering iconic Christmas classics, adding their own unique style and blending K-pop’s dynamic sound with the warmth of these beloved songs. Fans eagerly anticipate the holiday season not only for the celebration of Christmas itself but also for the holiday special covers by their favourite artists.

Get into the holiday mood with these ten memorable Christmas classics covered by K-pop groups!

All I Want for Christmas is You [Girls’ Generation]

One of the most iconic Christmas classics of all time, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” was given a sparkling K-pop twist by Girls’ Generation during their 2011 MBC holiday special, ‘SNSD’s Christmas Fairy Tale.’ The members delivered impeccable harmonies all while donning festive outfits.

Last Christmas [2PM]

2PM brought a new level of heartache and charm to “Last Christmas” by Wham! with their cover in 2009 at the KBS Open Concert. Their rendition added a unique twist, blending emotion and energy and spiced up with a short rap section, giving the classic a fresh, modern touch.

Jingle Bell Rock [SHINee X KARA]

In 2008, rookie SHINee and KARA teamed up for a special holiday performance of “Jingle Bell Rock” that brought a festive sparkle to the stage. Watching these two groups come together and delivering unforgettable performances was truly a gift for fans.

Last Christmas [BLACKPINK]

Global sensation BLACKPINK also gave their fans a Christmas gift in the form of a lively cover of “Last Christmas.” This version of the classic was performed live during their concerts, captivating BLINKs around the world.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town [BTS]

BTS covered the holiday classic “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.” First RM and Jimin covered it at the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon, and later a cover of the song by all members of BTS excluding Suga was aired at ABC’s The Disney Holiday Singalong in 2020.

My Grown Up Christmas List [DAY6]

DAY6 offered a beautiful cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “My Grown Up Christmas List” during their 2019 concert in Seoul. The band’s live version of the song added a layer of depth and warmth, with each member showcasing their impressive instrumental and vocal skills.

Feliz Navidad [GFRIEND]

The catchy and fun holiday hit “Feliz Navidad” was given a delightful K-pop spin by GFRIEND in 2016. Known for their bright, sweet vocals and charming dance routines, the girl group’s cover of the festive song added an extra layer of cuteness and warmth.

Jingle Bell Rock [aespa]

A new version of the iconic holiday classic “Jingle Bell Rock” was released by aespa as their third English digital single last year. The girls give the song a modern, hip flavor with their unique rap sections and vocal harmonies that are different from the original song.

Jingle Bell Rock [Xdinary Heroes]

Xdinary Heroes, the JYP boy band, offered a lively and energetic live band performance of “Jingle Bell Rock” on DAY6’s Kiss the Radio in 2021. With their raw power of live instruments, Xdinary Heroes brought a rock-infused edge to the holiday classic.
